2013 Volkswagen Polo Hatchback ReviewNovember 30, 2014
The engine is a good 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine coming with either 59 or 74bhp. In running, the car works great on normal streets at normal speeds but the time you start speeding, the engines are a little problematic. The newer versions of the car come in 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol motor and 1.5 litre diesel motor. The 1.2 litre petrol motor gives 75 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. 1.2 turbo is a lower-powered version working great at low revs and picking up. The 1.4 litre three-cylinder diesels return 89bhp and work well at low revs.
The polo doesn’t stand much chance in front of its contemporaries like Volkswagen Up and Ford Fiesta in terms of handling as there the car bends at sharp and edgy turns. Talking about the steering, the car is not very impressive is just good for normal street routine with easy handling and steering in normal traffic and stop-go traffic. The car is stable with the design giving comfort at open roads at high revs too. The car doesn’t give good feedback on potholes and gives a little bumpy ride. However, the rear seats are not spacious enough for handling three people forget about tall ones.
The car of such variety of engines is sure to be a little noisy at high speeds. But the Polo surprises us as it gives us a peaceful ride with the 1.2 litre and 1.0 litre engines making as less noise as possible, the latter being better. However, the 1.5 litre diesel motor gives a little noisy ride at high speeds and higher revs. Due to the new technical design, the wind noise is greatly decreased.
The prices of all the models of Polo Hatchback are decent but not that pocket-friendly compared to other competitors with the balance between the features and worth. The car gives a good resale value but lacks in discounts available in market.
Fuel economy and CO2 emissions are good enough and there is an availability of many fixed-price servicing packages which increases a little worth of buying this car. They have compensated in the company car tax bills which are quite low and make the car affordable.

The car comprises of airbags including curtain, front and side airbags for safety of the passengers. Front passenger can also get a deactivation switch on demand.
