2014 Seat Altea Review

It comes with the availability of just two engines- 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesel. 1.6 litres is adequate and 2.0 litres gives a powerful and smooth acceleration from lower revs.
Seat Altea’s tall hatch offers a nice handling due to its strong suspension which keeps a check of body movements. The car has been especially designed to carry families and offers a smooth and comfortable drive.
Engines are generally refined and come with zero complaints. Although at motorway speeds, road noise is very obvious and you can hear the sound of wind at the rear edges of the front door.
It comes at a reasonable and an affordable price which is less competitive as compared to its rivals. Buyer can also get a good discount. Running costs too is reasonable and it comes with a three years warranty of 60,000 miles. But there are several competitors who cost much lesser to run.
It comes with a solidly built in cabin. It has an interesting look too but the tough plastic, mini glass area and sombre colour scheme making it look dull and grumpy. The mechanicals of Seat Altia are good and proven.
All models of Altea has a stability control and anti lock brakes keeping the car safe even in slippery corners. It even comes with a twin front, side and curtain airbags, alarms and deadlocks completely fitted. The isofix child seat mounts is also present in it.
You can adjust the driver’s seat to your height and move steering anywhere for your ease and access. This gives a good comfort to the driver. The controls are placed logically but the small windows in between the front doors and windscreen are of little use. Upsweep present at the rear side window can form a blind spot while reversing.
Altea comes with a lot of cabin space for adult passengers. You can split the rear seats, lay them flat and slide. But they do not tumble. It has a deep and large split level boot which is particularly present in longer XL models.
Entry level models have front electric windows, air conditioning and a CD player. S Copa model consist of alloys, a climate control and a Bluetooth. SE comes with leather steering wheel and an electric rear window.
