2014 Renault Megane Sport Tourer Review

The turbocharged 114bhp in 1.2-litres and the other 109bhp in 1.6 –litres are the two petrol engines whereas in diesel you can opt from 109 and 89bhp in 1.5-litres, 158bhp in 2.0 and the 129bhp in 1.6-litres. In petrol the 1.2 one is more flexible and in diesel 109bhp in 1.6 and 1.5 is the standout version.
The Renaults Megane sport tourer offers you an extremely responsive steering. Although the ride is usually fine but you will not get any feedback through the wheels.
It’s a fact that all the engines of megane are a bit hushed but the diesel one will also send some vibrations to the pedal. The gearshift is quite uncertain. At motorways, you will get rid of the road noises but still you have to face the wind noise.
You can buy a megane by paying less than its other rivals like Volkswagen golf or the ford focus. But it’s more expensive than the Skoda Octavia estate. No strong resale value exists for this car.
In order to provide good and classy looks to the cabin, high quality material and standard quality finish and fittings are done. Although Renault was not successful in managing glory in terms of customer’s satisfaction and reliability. But in the recent JD Power survey this car has got above average scores.
The safety records of Renault are quite relevant. All the models are well fitted with the front, curtain and side airbags as well as the crucial stability control. Dead locks and integrated stereo is present to enhance the theft resistance.
The cabin is made more techno-friendly by the adding of the push button starter system and the digital speedo. Although the satellite navigation system is not placed ideally. The sensible layout of the dash will make it more comfortable. Over-shoulder vision will be restricted by the thick rear pillars.
Stretched wheelbase for providing more leg and rear room spacing and large boot. It’s tricky to fold the rear seats.
Well-equipped entry level Expression+ trim fitted with AC USB socket, Bluetooth and alloy wheels. Satellite navigation, cruise control and automatic light and wiper comes with the dynamic tomtom whereas  the top ranging GT  TomTom comes with a sporty body kit  and parking cameras.
