2014 KIA Carens Review

It comes with three engines – 1.6 litre petrol and 134 bhp and 114 bhp versions. The petrol engine is smooth but at lower revs is feels gutless. You have to keep revs above 1600 rpm. The low powered diesel is not very quick but gives a flexible and smooth power delivery.
The ride is very comfortable and more forgiving. But on rough surfaces things can get a bit unsettled. Carens is slow to respond to steering inputs and the steering gives an artificial feel.
You will get a refines cruiser with both petrol and diesel engines. More powerful diesels are quieter. Other noise levels are also low with less road noise.
It comes with a competitive price with most trims being cheaper. Running costs are also reasonable and low powered engine gives a reasonable economy.
It comes with a smartly styled interiors build with solid materials. In the latest reliability survey it performed very well and you will get an assurance of seven years, 100-000 miles warranty.
Every model comes with six airbags and a stability control. But the twin curtain airbags don’t protect those in the third row. Carens is safe in crash as it scored a maximum of five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. It also comes with automatic door locking function, deadlocks and an engine immobiliser boosting security.
The dashboard is similar to Ceed hatchback which indicates that most of the controls are logically arranged and neatly labelled. You can easily adjust the steering wheel and the seat providing the driver with a comfortable position. The visibility is also good thanks to the large windows
Carens come with 3 full sized middle row seats which you can slid and recline. In the third row kids and smaller adults can fit. Getting to the third row is not very easy as the middle seat cannot slide much forward and then they don’t come back to their original position. The boot space is big.
It is well equipped and trim levels are easy to understand. The entry level model comes with cruise control, air conditioning, a USB socket and a Bluetooth. It also comes with climate controls, automatic lights and wipers. You can further add a colour touch screen, a panoramic glass roof and a reversing camera.
