2014 Hyundai IX20 Review

Hyundai ix20 is comfortable. It comes with a diesel engine which is restless at lower speeds. The taller body leans well in corners. Steering has no feedback and offers a good grip.
The 1.4 litre petrol engine does a good job of melting in the background when you are running at a higher speed. But the diesel engine makes a coarse noise and vibrations all the time. The engine noise is so heavy that you will hardly notice moderate wind levels.
The 1.4 litre petrol engine comes within the range and gives a great performance. It is better to avoid 1.4 litre diesel engines. Fuel economy is great but it is not much flexible. 1.6 litre petrol is available only with a gearbox.
Ix20 is cheap and comes within the budget. Resale value is also good. 1.4 litre engine has a start stop system minimizing fuel consumption in heavy traffic.
Ix20 comes with a smart interior look and all the construction is solid. But the plastics can be disappointing as they are very hard to touch. It did not perform good in 2010 JD power customer satisfaction survey but it comes with a five years of warranty period.
Ix20 has a great safety and security and got five stars from Euro NCAP. It comes with a good stability control, front, side and curtain airbags and an active anti whiplash front head restraints. It comes with a security kit consisting of deadlocks, integrated stereo and an engine immobiliser.
It offers you a good elevated driving position but it could have been equipped with a wider range for adjustment of the seat and the steering wheel. It has a heavily styled centre console system which can be a drawback but all the buttons are large and clearly marked. Thick front pillars restrict the view.
Being a supermini car, it comes with a lot of cabin space thanks to it tall body. Rear seat can be slid forward and boot is also big. You can fold the seats flat for a larger luggage room. Boot floor is adjustable.
It comes with a remote central locking, an air conditioning, electric front windows and a CD player. You can even upgrade it for electric rear windows, Bluetooth, parking sensors and much more.
