The 113bhp e-HDI diesel engine gives nice performance and you don’t need to work it hard to give the car a good speed. The 148bhp diesel and 154bhp THP petrol engine are impressive performers too. The variety of engines also include 118bhp 1.6 petrol and 91bhp 1.6 diesel engine.
The steering is light with no artificial weight till it’s not needed; however, it doesn’t give a very good response generally but is good enough at bends and turns. The suspension works great to keep the body control in a good state. A little loosed up control can be felt at the rear end yet the Picasso goes proudly over those potholes like a boss.
The windscreen pillars lets in a good amount of wind noise at high speeds but the road noise is comparatively less and the engines are also less noisy. The manual gearbox gives a hard time but still a better choice than the optional ETG6 semi-auto gearbox which is all the more slow and pushy.
All the engines give good fuel economy especially the 91bhp diesel engine with quite low CO2 emissions. e-HDi 115 gives almost the same efficiency and fuel economy. Prices and values are competitive of C4 Picasso.
Interiors quality is high class with superbly built dash. Color screen is present in high-spec cars to display almost all the functions and control them while a black and white screen is present in low-spec cars. Driver’s seat adjustments are present. A little disappointment and uneasiness comes when the air-conditioning and temperature adjustments have to be done through the touch-screen only.
C4 Picasso gives you a big boot with foldable rear seats; towards front or back, flat or reclined, giving a good range of adjustments. The rear seats have Isofix child-seat mountings too. Head and leg room is plenty.
C4 Picasso gives you stability control with airbags; front, side and curtain. Additional cruise control and lane-departure warning can be bought for better safety. Security measures are seen by engine immobilizer, locking wheel nuts and deadlocks. The car gained a perfect five star rating in Euro NCAP crash test.
All the models have basic alloys, Bluetooth and six-speaker stereo. Second trim and its superiors have a digital radio with the top-specs having adaptive cruise control and lots of seat adjustments.
