2014 BMW 3-Series GT Review

It comes with diesel and petrol engines. Diesel buyers have a choice between 141 bhp and 181 bhp 2.0 litres engine and petrol lovers can choose 181 bhp and 242 bhp 2.0 litre turbo. 181 bhp 320d is flexible.
Adaptive M sports suspension allows you to change the stiffness level of damping. But the body movements are not well controlled. Sharp ended bumps will send jolts in the cabin at lower speed but high speed is comfortable and impressive.
The 3.0 litre diesel engine is very smooth and works superb with 8 speed automatic gearbox. 2.0 litre diesel engines is noisy but still good. The petrol units are refined. But at high speed you might encounter excessive wind noise.
Buying and owning can be given three stars. Buying BMW 3 series GT is an expensive affair and neither is it fuel efficient. 320d model emits 129g/km of carbon dioxide.
Right at the front you will see a dashboard similar to that 3 series saloon. Materials are classy and many of the switches are solid with a positive action. Its reliability record is not very good; just reasonable. But there should not be other unforeseen problems with the car.
Standard safety equipments consists of 6 airbags, a stability control which comprises cornering brake control, dynamic brake control, dynamic traction control and an ABS. Every model comes with an alarm too.
Visibility is good partly because of the larger surface area of the glass and GT’s elevated driving position. The iDrive infotainment system is very simple to use and operate. You can scroll through on screen menus easily and press the dial to select your desired function.
It comes with a good spacious legroom. It comes with a bigger boot when compared to other versions of the 3 series. You can fold all the three rear seats independently and lay it virtually flat. But the load bay is not much tall because of the swooping tailgate. It comes with under floor storage.
The entry level SE versions come with dual zone climate control, 18 inch alloys, a USB socket, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors. In sport trim you will sports seat and sports steering wheel whereas Modern has a part leather upholstery.
