2014 BMW 1 Series Hatchback Review

The 116i petrol engine is smooth with great acceleration power at all the revs. The 125i engine is another such example working strongly at high speeds and giving a good speed compared to the competitors. Moreover, 135i leaves all the rivals behind. The 118d diesel us not so great at high revs and 116d ED is the perfect combination of efficiency and smoothness.
The BMW 1 Series is pretty sharp to drive with decent handling and nice grip. Apart from this, the good intention turning bad example is the steering being really light and speedy which can sometimes become difficult to handle. Good ride with the classy and comfortable feel at all speeds. This small family car is noise-making at low speeds when through potholes and the diesel engine cars make noise through pedals and gear knobs at low revs. The cabin is free of wind and road noise.
The BMW 1 Series is priced almost same as its counterparts but you would need to pay extra bucks for some parts of kit. Various discounts are available in the market with good resale value. Gives good fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
The car secured a maximum five star in safety on Euro NCAP’s crash test program. Standard security features include six airbag, deadlocks, an alarm and stability control.
The car doesn’t give you a comfortable driving position with unsuitable alignment of pedals and the steering wheel. The rear window is a little uncomfortable to see through due to its size. Te iDrive infotainment system is impressive with eased up layouts.
The front and rear seats work great for six-footers. The design is a little uncomfortable while enterin the cabin and rear windows are too small and would make you feel uncomfortable. The boot is not that spacious with less luggage keeping capability.
One down point of the 1 series is that they don’t provide with much specs as standard ones in entry-level ES models. They don’t have the usual Bluetooth, four electric windows and a socket to plug your MP3 player which is present in general in other cars. Bluetooth is available in SE trims and higher ranges like Sport, M Sport and Urban models have run-flat tyres and big alloy wheels.
