This muscle car came as an option Package for F-85 and Cutlass lines of Oldsmobile. This model started to be produced in 1964. The 1970 model of 442 came under the second generation car with four varieties of body styles: 2-door sport coupe, Holiday coupe and convertible and Vista Cruiser station wagon. The Olds 455 V8 engine was made standard this year giving a great output of 365-hp. There was an option of W-30 package too. The 1970 model gave advent to console-mounted Hurst Dual/Gate shifter with Turbo Hydra-matic transmission. To increase the engine valve life, GM introduced new Positive Valve Rotators in V8 engine cars. The look of the car was enhanced with vertical lines in silver grille and vertical tail lights.
