442 came as an option package for F-85 and Cutlass in 1964. 1968 started the advent of second generation 442 models. 1968 introduced side marker lights and front outboard shoulder belts and buried vent windows on hardtops and convertibles. Also, new rear bumpers with exhaust cutouts and exhaust tips came in 1968. This was also the first year of the collaboration of Oldsmobile with Hurst Performance Research Corporation to give birth to Hurst/Olds. This limited range had beautiful color combinations with exterior color like Peruvian Silver with black strips and white pinstripes and also H/O badging. 1969 model had minor changes like steering lock ignition switch, new color combinations and removed wing windows in Coupes and convertibles.
