This exclusive-looking gigantic full-size luxury car came into production in 1966 and continued till late 1992. Known as a first generation model, 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado initially was a personal luxury car which was not to be produced but later Oldsmobile got the permission to produce the line. The car had a longitudinal front-engine with the new front-wheel drive. There were many innovations that took place in its production like draft-free ventilation system to reduce a large amount of wind noise, heavy-duty Turbo-Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission and Toronado-Front-Drive. The car was highly innovative and well-made with high selling records that it won many automotive awards including Motor Trend’s Car of the Year Award. 40,963 cars in total were produced in 1966.
